Frequently Asked Questions

What is Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people of older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant).

How do I choose the right Medicare plan?

Choosing the right Medicare plan involves understanding your health needs and financial situation, comparing the benefits and costs of different plans, and considering your preferences regarding doctors and hospitals. We provide personalized consultations to help you make the best choice.

Can I change my plan if my needs change?

Yes, you can change your plan during designated enrollment periods. Additionally, our Continuous Support service can help you review your current plan annually to ensure it still meets your needs.

I have Tricare for Life or VA coverage. Do I need anything else?

Thank you for your service!

You have excellent coverage but you may want one of the no cost Medicare Advantage plans for their Rich extra benefits!

-dental, vision and hearing

-gym memberships

- refunds monthly to help pay for Medicare

- allowance for over the counter products (amounts vary by company)

-transportation to medical/ gym locations

Why is getting additional coverage besides Medicare important?

First of all, if you don't get Medicare Part D-prescription drug coverage- you will pay a monthly fine of about $3 for every year past 65 you waited to enroll.

Aside from that, you will have a 20% coinsurance for all medical expenses moving forward. A $100,000 hospital bill will leave you owing $20,000!
At least a no cost Medicare advantage plan has a maximum out of pocket per year, that once reached, you will not pay another penny for your medical care for the remaining part of the year. Most of these cap at no more than $8950 per year. Most are considerably lower.

What is the difference between a Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage plan?

This is the biggest question I get.
I call a Medicare supplement plan a 'pay ahead' plan. You pay your monthly fee, and depending on the plan name letter you choose, some or all your medical bills are paid no matter what medical event you have. Generally, most all doctors who accept Medicare will accept this coverage. Like life insurance, you pay a monthly fee whether you end up using it or not.

Medicare advantage plans I call ' pay as you go', because you generally don't have a monthly fee ( being subsidized by Medicare) but you pay as you use the service: Days in hospital, specialists, etc. These plans all are network based, so you need to have your agent check all your doctors and specialists to ensure they are in the network.

I currently have work coverage and plan to stay on my work plan past 65. Do I need to enroll in Medicare?

It's important to check with your health insurance company whether your coverage is considered CREDIBLE COVERAGE by Medicare. They should know this. If it is, you do not need to enroll in Medicare, although many people do enroll in Medicare Part A, as it does not have a montly fee. You can hold off on Part B enrollment until you decide to go off of your work coverage.

If they are not cosidered credible, then you will need to enroll in Part A and B to avoid the fine that is associated with late enrollment.
